A visual and emotional feast
A Little Bit of Stone was invited to the opening night of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe at the Regent Theatre in Stoke, and what followed was a truly magical evening of theatre. From the moody pre-show opening to the final bow, it was a breathtaking display of theatrical imagination and heart.
The transitions between scenes were fast, fluid, and often mesmerising. Flowing white fabric, used both as part of scenes and as scenic transformation, added a visual poetry that tied the story together with grace and amazing pace.
We especially loved the elevated circular platform centre stage. It lifted key moments, adding height, drama, and visibility to climactic scenes, and worked seamlessly throughout.
The moment Lucy stepped through the wardrobe, played by Kudzai Mangombe with wide-eyed wonder, the whole theatre leaned in.

A cast full of heart
Stepping into the role of the White Witch, understudy Ffion Haf delivered a commanding and memorable performance. With icy poise and crisp delivery, she brought a chilling presence to every scene she appeared in.
Stanton Wright’s Aslan was every bit as majestic as the puppet he guided. Alongside a trio of puppeteers, he brought warmth, gravity, and grace to the lion’s every movement.
Joanna Adaran (Susan), Jesse Dunbar (Edmund), and Bunmi Osadolor (Peter) completed the Pevensie siblings with believable chemistry and strength, while the supporting ensemble kept the energy high and the storytelling tight.

Live music and a powerful atmosphere
One of the show’s great successes is its use of actor-musicians. The cast doubled as live band members, delivering a rich soundtrack that gave Narnia its own unique soundscape. It helped the production glide between intimate, reflective moments and scenes of epic tension and triumph.
Even the most emotional beats, Aslan’s sacrifice and resurrection, were handled with sensitivity and beauty.

A crowd captivated
The audience was a real mix of young and old, children on the edge of their seats, parents looking equally excited to be there, and couples nudging each other at clever details. And when the curtain fell, the reaction was unanimous, rapturous applause and cheers echoed through the Regent Theatre.
This touring production is a magical gem. Whether you’re revisiting a childhood favourite or discovering Narnia for the first time, it offers an unforgettable theatrical experience. A spellbinding night for all ages – this is one wardrobe you’ll be glad you opened.
