As reported earlier this month, concerned residents of Aston-by-Stone have organised a public meeting to address concerns over the potential development of farmland near Stone Business Park. The meeting is scheduled for 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm, on the 29th of November at Aston Village Hall. More details on the meeting can be found on the link above.
Ahead of the public meeting, Nick Jones, Group Director of Commercial at Richborough, has issued A Little Bit of Stone with the following update:
“As you are aware, Richborough has an interest in land to the south of Stone Industrial Park, and as an experienced promoter, has a strong track record of working with Councils and communities to deliver successful economic growth and development. We have ambitions to promote the land for sustainable economic development to deliver new high quality commercial buildings, in a landscaped setting, to provide space for local businesses and inward investment.
We are keen to understand the local community and business community’s views, in particular on how Stone might grow as a town, the type of development needed, the role the land can play in meeting such needs, and how development benefits can be maximised for the town and local community. We plan to reach out to the community through an engagement exercise in due course and will be in touch to this effect. However, beforehand, we will be carefully looking at the land and working with our professional team to develop our ideas. We will also be engaging with the council, Members and statutory consultees. May we please ask that you bear with us, and we will be in touch in due course to start what we hope is a positive conversation. “

David meets Goliath again.
Richborough v Staffordborough
Thank you for your Boilerplate intro pulled directly from your business’s retrik , using all the standard buzz words!
Please don’t underestimate the intelligence of the community living in Stone Rural.
We are not NIBY type of people however:
We are not prepared to allow our beautiful countryside to be used as the UK’s dumping ground for distributors to house their warehouses.
One minute this country says it wants to be environmentally friendly go green the next it concrete over everything.
If we are considering proposing new space because we have businesses needing space to produce something, manufacturing goods to be exported to improve our gdp, yes it should be considered.
If this exercise is only looking to feed the greedy retailers shipping goods being imported into this county then serious consideration should be applied.
Before we can take your proposal seriously Mr Nick Jones – Group Director at Richborough , it’s only fair we understand a little more about your pedigree.
* How long have you been employed by Richborough?
* What is your degree in or what level of education have you had to support you in this particular role?
* Love to hear about some previous projects you’ve been involved in please, both successful & not so successful?
* Which green county do you live in ? Ie where is your primary residence in the UK ?
Positive progress is embedded in genuine integrity.

Standard developer greenwash language for “we’re going to concrete over every green space we can get our claws on, and run some fake consultations to placate people daft enjoy think that they’re actually being listened to”. Completely ignores the fact that Britain is increasingly short of green space and that nature needs to be a key tool in climate change mitigation.

Enough, not enjoy. Bloody autocorrect.

Gavin Williamson MP for Stone has already agreed to oppose this and we have his full support
Steve
Statement total nonsensical waffle. They want the land and going to build on it and don’t care about residents of Stone.

I wouldn’t trust them or Stafford borough council.
PLL Stafford and the JLR car park delivered barely any jobs or increased prospects for the town.
Take a stand and don’t let these lot walk all over us as well.
