Stone Rotarian Will Tonge has received a special award for his outstanding commitment to the Rotary movement.

Will Tonge

Will was awarded a Paul Harris Fellowship at the Rotary Club of Stone & District’s Christmas celebration on 17th December. In the UK the Fellowship is awarded to those who have shown outstanding commitment to the Rotary maxim of ‘Service above Self’ over many years.

Will had completed 18 months as president of the club, having agreed to remain in that role when the club’s then president-elect had stepped aside earlier in 2012, and this was his second term as President, having previously been president in 2004/05.

He has been a strong supporter of the club’s role in the community and earlier this year completed the Coast to Coast Challenge when he cycled across Britain to raise funds for SANDS, the Stillbirth and Neo-natal Death Support Charity. More about that HERE.

Unfortunately on the morning of the planned presentation Will was taken ill, and was unable to attend and receive the award from his successor, John Beamond. Emma Tonge accepted the award on his behalf.
