Pirehill First School has been commended in Stafford Borough Council’s Green Awards for its environmental work with pupils.
The awards recognise the work undertaken by local organisations – such as schools and businesses – in creating a more sustainable and healthy community.
The school – in Tilling Drive, Walton – was commended for its efforts to recycle and its outdoor wildlife area and community allotment. Headteacher Debbie Breeze said: “Recycling and looking after the environment are important lessons for children and we’ve been working really hard on a number of projects. We were delighted to be commended.”
The overall winner this year was Rising Brook Baptist Church in Stafford.
