Sixty-six bed care home plans submitted for Tilling Drive football pitches

Two months after withdrawing a similar application on Lichfield Road LNT Care Developments have submitted plans for a sixty-six bedroom care home

The land earmarked for the development is the Tilling Drive football pitches, as reported back in April 2018, the borough council had invited offers for development of the land.

Controversially the Borough Council is looking to raise money for leisure and play facilities in the town (Westbridge Park) by…….selling off leisure facilities in the town. As such an opposition group has been campaigning to save the land from development, citing its importance in the local community – Save Tilling Drive Recreation Park from Development

The planning application from LNT care developments specifies the location as “Football Pitches, Tilling Drive” and describes the planning proposal as “Erection of a sixty-six bedroom, two-storey care home for older people, with associated access, car parking and landscaping”. Access to and from the care home will be via a new entrance/exit on to the A34.

The development company had struggled to obtain planning permission for their previous proposal, off Lichfield Road, due to issues with a gas pipeline that ran across the site. LNT therefore had no option but to officially withdrew it’s application at the end of 2018, having made an offer on the Tilling Drive land.

The plans include 28 parking spaces for staff and visitors, 8 cycle spaces with job opportunities for 40 full time and 5 part-time workers.
