St George’s Day medals for Scout leaders

Three Scout leaders from Stone are being awarded in the Scout St George’s Day Roll of  Honour.

Simon Bunn, Jonathon Bunn and Adam Saunders will all be receiving the Medal for Meritorious Conduct. The award is made for conduct  involving a high degree of courage, endurance, initiative or devotion to duty, often under suffering, without necessarily involving any element of risk.

All three Leaders are from 1st Stone (Christchurch) Scout group. The awards were put forward by members of the scouting organisation and were put through County, Area and Regional Commissioners and then passed on to Scout HQ at Gilwell Park.

Wayne Bulpitt, UK Scouting Chief Commissioner, said: “In my role I am privileged to witness many examples across the UK of just how wonderful Scouting is. Many of our members are unsung heroes of their communities, so as we recognise these achievements, let’s be radical, cast aside our inhibitions, natural instinctive modesty (for most at least!) and sing these achievements from the rooftops. Congratulations to all who have won an award and a heartfelt thanks!”
