Stone bin collections to start at 6am during heat warning

Bin collection crews in the Stafford Borough Council area will start work an hour earlier than usual this week because of the extreme heat warning affecting Staffordshire.

Bin Collection

From Tuesday 23 June 2026, crews will begin collections at 6am instead of 7am to help them avoid working during the hottest part of the day.

Residents in Stone and across the borough are being asked to put their bins out by 6am on their usual collection day, or the night before.

Stafford Borough Council said crews are also being given extra water, hats and suncream, and will be encouraged to take frequent breaks out of the sun where possible.

If a bin is not emptied on its scheduled collection day, residents are asked to leave it out until it has been collected.

The council has also asked people to pass the message on to friends, family or neighbours who may not have access to email or social media.

The Met Office forecast for Stone shows very high temperatures through the middle of the week, with the heat expected to be strongest on Wednesday and Thursday.
