Stone Cats Protection shop appeals for donations and volunteers

Stone’s Cats Protection charity shop is calling on people to consider a winter clear-out and donate to help a worthy cause.

The Cats Protection shop at the bottom of Stone High Street is running low on clothes, shoes and accessories and urgently needs more stock to refill its rails and shelves. Bric-a-brac, including ornaments and unwanted gifts, are always gratefully received.

The shop is also looking for new volunteers to come on board to man the till or sort donations, which is perfect for anyone thinking about doing charity work in the New Year.

Area Retail Manager Jess Keitley said:

“This is a great time to rifle through wardrobes and drawers and get rid of any unwanted stuff, starting the new year fresh.

“Proceeds from the shop go directly towards helping cats in need, ensuring they go on to happy and healthy lives through rehoming, or through supporting cat owners who may be struggling to take care of their pets.

“We couldn’t run the shop without our incredible volunteers. It is a great opportunity to learn new skills, meet new people and help cats in the process. No experience is required as you will get full training, which can look great on a CV.”

The shop supports the work of Cats Protection Stafford & District, which gives homeless cats and kittens a second chance by finding them loving homes; it also provides support for cat owners through subsided neutering and microchipping.

One of the cats currently needing a new home is four-month-old Brian, who has proven himself to be a bundle of energy. It is thought he was separated from his mother too early and was not fully socialised, so he tends to be boisterous. With an experienced owner with time to play, Brian is expected to settle down and become a wonderful companion.
