Children in Stone who are turning ten this year are being invited to take part in a special Staffordshire Day birthday prize draw.

The competition is being held as Staffordshire Day celebrates its tenth anniversary on Friday 1 May 2026. Organisers are asking children who will also turn ten during the year to share their dream Staffordshire day out for the chance to win a family trip to a visitor attraction of their choice over the bank holiday weekend.

The winner will be selected at random.

Parents or guardians need to complete the entry form on behalf of their child, and entries close on Thursday 23 April, with the winner due to be announced the following day, according to the competition details shared by Staffordshire County Council.

For Stone families, the appeal is fairly obvious. There are plenty of well-known days out within easy reach, whether that is a trip towards Trentham, a visit into Stafford, or somewhere further afield in the county.

This year’s Staffordshire Day celebrations also include the launch of the new Staffy Trail, a sculpture and heritage trail designed to encourage people to explore town centres, discover local stories and support businesses. The official Staffordshire Day page says the trail will run through Stoke-on-Trent city centre, Stafford and Tamworth.

Robin Hall, Staffordshire County Council’s cabinet member for economy and skills, said the competition was intended as a fun way for young people to be part of the county celebration.

He said Staffordshire Day was about “celebrating our county and bringing people together”, and said he was looking forward to seeing the ideas children come up with for their perfect day out.

While Stone is not listed among the main Staffy Trail locations at launch, the birthday draw still gives local families a reason to get involved, especially with Staffordshire Day events happening across the county and nearby Trentham already advertising its own Staffordshire Day event on Friday 1 May.

Entries must be submitted by an adult on a child’s behalf. To enter, visit Staffordshire Day prize draw – Staffy’s Pawsome Day Out
