The 2018 Stone Christmas lights switch on will take place in Stone High Street on Thursday 15th November
The event is one of the highlights on the town’s calendar with people coming from far and wide to enjoy the evening. The focus this year will again be on local young people, who will compère the event, provide the entertainment, and help to turn on the lights.
The festive evening will kick-off at 5pm with the High Street and Market Square sporting a selection of food, charity and trade stalls and a selection of Warwicks Fun Fair rides. A number of town centre shops will also be staying open later to welcome shoppers into their stores.
The planned running order for the evening is:
- 5.00pm – the evening kicks off and will be compèred by Samantha Lloyd
- 5.30pm – Young local musician Dominique Simone
- 6.00pm – Stone’s Combined Schools Choir perform a collection of Christmas favourites
- 6.30pm – Compere Samantha Lloyd will switch to a musical role and give a performance to take the evening up to the main lights switch-on event
- 7.00pm – Lights Switch-on
The lights will be switched on by the winner of the Town Council’s Christmas Card design competition for schools, supported by the Town Mayor and, of course, Father Christmas.
Councillor Jill Hood said
“Once again I’m pleased that the focus of this event is based around the talented young people of our town. Many of the lights themselves are also new this year, and we are expecting the usual packed High Street. Make sure you come early to claim a good spot.”
