Stone comedians needed for charity challenge

Gingerbread Centre

A charity is giving budding comedians in Stone a once-in-a-lifetime chance to take the spotlight.

The Gingerbread Centre in Stoke-on-Trent is hosting a six-week comedy course culminating in a gig in front of a live audience – and one Stone man has already signed up.

The corporate comedy course has been devised as a novel way to raise much-needed funds for the charity, which provides support and accommodation for vulnerable homeless men and women.

Participants must be willing to raise a £250 fee either through sponsorship or donations and be available on Wednesday evenings starting from October 23rd. Training will be provided by the Liverpool Comedy Trust.

Andy Bush, chief executive of the Gingerbread Centre, said: “We all know someone who is the life and soul of the office party and who secretly dreams of being the next Peter Kay. We are challenging people to put their talent to the test and we’d love to hear from budding comedians in Stone.”

Mike Grocott from Stone has already signed up. He said: “I think the term ‘comedian’ might be pushing it a bit far, but I’m looking forward to learning the tricks of the trade and hopefully making one or two people chuckle at the live comedy gig!”

If you are up for the challenge, contact the Gingerbread Centre by sending an email to fundraising@gingerbreadcentre.co.uk or by calling 01782 344740 for an application pack or more information.
