Stone Community First Responders Appeal

Stone First RespondersThe dedicated team at Stone Community first responders are currently running a crowd funding campaign to purchase a defibrillator to be installed in their response car. As a local group they work alongside West Midlands Ambulance Service to get to people in our local community as quickly as possible.  This rapid response ensures that patients start to receive treatment as fast as possible, this can be a real life saver.

Emily Allman, who set up the crowd funding campaign, said:

“The scheme was set up because approximately 600 people die each year unnecessarily of cardiac arrest and as we are always in the local community we can give that vital CPR which can saves lives. We hope that people will donate as without donations we wouldn’t be able to run as a group and help people in our local community.”

[box type=”info” align=”aligncenter” ]The responders – who are all volunteers – really do play a hugely important role in the town. They are all trained to respond to emergency calls and to provide immediate care to patients before the arrival of an ambulance. By providing vital life-saving first aid before the ambulance arrives, they really can be the difference between life and death. Stone Community First Responders cover an area within a 5km radius of Stone town centre. Like all responder groups across the country, we are not funded and all time is given voluntarily. The money that is needed to purchase equipment, uniforms and a vehicle has to be raised through fundraising events or public or private donations.[/box]
