Stone estate agent James Du Pavey says it recorded one of its busiest Augusts to date, agreeing 140 property sales across the areas it serves.
The figure was 27% higher than during the same month last year, while the average price of the homes on which sales were agreed was 5.6% higher than in August 2025.
James Du Pavey operates across Stone, Eccleshall, Cheadle, Nantwich and surrounding areas, so the figures relate to its wider business rather than Stone alone.
The agency said buyers remained active during the summer, although many were taking time over their decisions before committing to the right property.
Its Autumn 2026 market report also points to increased choice for buyers, with the supply of homes for sale close to a 12 year high for this time of year.
James Du Pavey said that means sellers need to pay particular attention to how homes are priced, presented and marketed when they first come onto the market.
The report also highlights stronger house price growth in some of the areas covered by its branches, including parts of Staffordshire and the North West.
James Du Pavey said the 140 sales agreed during August gave it confidence heading into the autumn market, traditionally an important period for buyers and sellers.
