Stone High Street – opens for business with safety in mind

Stone MayorIf you venture out into Stone High Street you’ll spot the work that Streetscene operatives have been carrying out, putting down stickers to remind and help shoppers adhere to social distancing rules.

Social distancing rules mean that people should aim to maintain a 2-metre gap as they shop and go about their business. The new stickers will help people know how to correctly queue as well as directing them which way to enter and exit the shops.

As businesses reopen their doors, some of the shops in anticipation of being really busy, have created an appointment only service for shoppers and other traders will observe the rule of only a certain number of shoppers being allowed in at one time.

During the lockdown, many traders have spruced up their premises and some have even painted their frontages such as Celia’s who have gone all things pink.

The restaurants, bars, cafes, hair and beauty salons which are not yet open are all busy painting and refurbishing their premises ready for when the Government gives the go-ahead for them to open.

Town and Tourism Chairman, Councillor Jill Hood, said

“Some shops in Walton and the High Street have been open throughout the lockdown doing a tremendous job in continuing to trade whilst keeping shoppers safe; to them our Town Council says a big thank you.

Now it’s time for our other shops to open and welcome back residents and visitors to our fantastic High Street again”.
