Early this morning, police officers arrested a 45-year-old Stone man who had been reported driving on the wrong side of the road.
An eye-witness told A Little Bit of Stone:
“At around 6:10am, I saw a large vehicle stopped and abandoned on Stafford Road by the M&S junction, with several police vehicles surrounding it.
I saw a man running away from the scene onto Westbridge Park. Oddly, he seemed to be carrying what looked like a DeWalt toolbox, which didn’t help with his escape plans.
Four officers who were in pursuit caught the suspect in the park, just opposite the car park to Stone Leisure Centre. One of the officers held a taser, while the three remaining officers had cuffed him and led him away back to their cars.”
Staffordshire Police issued the following statement to A Little Bit of Stone:
“A man has been arrested after driving on the wrong side of a road in Stone.
It was reported just after 5:45am this morning (Tuesday 9 April) on Stafford Road.
The car, a Range Rover, came to a stop without colliding with any other cars at the time.
A 45-year-old man, from the Stone area, was arrested on suspicion of drug driving
He remains in custody while enquiries continue.”
