There’s a day of free live music in the Market Square on Saturday 16th July.
Stone Town Council says it recognised the disappointment of residents at the sad demise of previous music festivals held in the town, so is staging a free music event.
The day has been organised by Tony Hollinshead and Ben Owen on behalf of the town council. Tony plays bass with Stone band The Blueshounds, while Ben has been making a name for himself over the last few years as a super-talented singer-songwriter.

They are also founders of the Young Musicians Collective whose young musicians perform at Stone’s Costa on the first Sunday of each month. By playing there this bridges the gap between school and playing at open mic nights in pubs, providing the youngsters with another level to perform at. A number of these very talented local young musicians will be performing covers and their own material between 10.30am and 5pm in Market Square.

Then there’s a cracking line-up for the evening…

From 5.30pm to 6.30pm Stone’s old favourites Murphy’s Marbles will entertain the crowds, followed by Paul Walker and Karen Pfeifer between 6.45pm and 7.15pm. The finale will be performed by The Formula from 7.45pm to 9pm.
All this local talent will perform on a brand new stage in the town’s Market Square, provided by Oliver Hadley, while Stone Radio will compere the event.

Bring your own seats and sit back and enjoy what promises to be a fantastic time. During the day and into the evening there will also be a craft market in the High street selling unique and diverse handmade products, so take time to browse what’s on offer in the town, with many independent shops and eateries you won’t find anywhere else.”[/box]
