A cross-country team from St Michael’s First School in Stone were victorious at an event earlier this month and will now represent the borough at the Winter School Games next February.
The first Year 3 and 4 Stafford and Stone School Sport Partnership Cross Country Relays were at King Edward VI High School on Monday 14th October. Over 200 pupils from all over Stafford and Stone took part.
Each school team had eight pupils (four boys and four girls) from Year 3 and eight runners from Year 4. The distance covered by each runner was about 600m.
Year 3 teams ran first, with hundreds of parents cheering from the sidelines. After a very competitive and close race, Tittensor were crowned champions. In the Year 4 event, St Michael’s First School were dominant throughout, with both boys and girls teams gaining first place.
St Michael’s and Tittensor will now represent the Stafford and Stone School Sport Partnership in the upcoming Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent Winter School Games Festival in February.
Steve Glover, partnership development manager, said: “We were thrilled with our first ever running of the is event. A great turnout of schools and parents helped make it such an exciting event. Well done to both schools and their victory and we wish them good luck in the county finals.”
