Stone rail passengers warned over strike disruption on 22 and 23 May

Stone rail passengers are being advised to only travel if necessary during two days of planned industrial action affecting London Northwestern Railway and West Midlands Railway services.

Stone Railway Station

The disruption is planned for Friday 22 May and Saturday 23 May, with only a small number of routes expected to operate on reduced timetables. National Rail says there will be no trains after 7pm on Friday, or before 7am on Saturday.

For Stone passengers, the key local impact is that no London Northwestern Railway trains are due to run on routes between Stafford and Crewe via Stoke-on-Trent. That means services normally calling at Stone will be affected.

London Northwestern Railway says the action is being taken by members of the TSSA union, and passengers should only travel if necessary.

Limited London Northwestern Railway services are expected to run between Liverpool Lime Street and Birmingham, and between Birmingham and Northampton, Milton Keynes Central and London Euston, at one train per hour.

West Midlands Railway will also run a reduced service on selected routes, including Wolverhampton to Walsall via Birmingham New Street, Rugeley Trent Valley to Birmingham International via Birmingham New Street, and Lichfield Trent Valley to Redditch and Bromsgrove via Birmingham New Street.

Journey planners had not yet been updated when the disruption was announced, and passengers are being told to check again before travelling. Services may also be subject to cancellations, disruption, and fewer carriages on some routes.

Passengers are advised to check their full journey before setting off, including first and last train times, and to keep tickets if they need to claim compensation for delays.
