Stone Reform UK councillors part of new proposed council leadership team

Two newly elected Reform UK councillors covering parts of Stone and the rural surroundings are among those named in the proposed leadership team for Staffordshire County Council.

Andrew Mynors, who won the Stafford Trent Valley division, is set to take on the role of Cabinet Member for Connectivity, while Sean Baggeley, elected in Stone Rural North, is proposed to lead the council’s Overview and Scrutiny Committees.

Ian Cooper, dressed in a dark suit and striped tie, sits against a two-tone wall with a blue noticeboard behind him. He wears glasses and a small Union Jack pin on his lapel.

Their appointments are part of a wider cabinet announcement by Ian Cooper, the Reform UK group leader and councillor for Perrycrofts, Tamworth. Cooper is expected to be formally confirmed as council leader at the full council meeting on Thursday 22nd May, following Reform’s landslide victory at the local elections.

The party won 49 of the 62 seats on the council, ending decades of Conservative control. The Conservatives now hold 10 seats, with one seat each for Labour, the Green Party and Jill Hood taking an independent seat for Stone Urban division.

I can’t find the cabinet member for Environment and Climate Change that used to exist.
I may be mistaken but I really hope that this role has not been axed.
