A couple of weeks ago, ALBOS kindly announced Stone Rotary Club’s 20th annual street collection for Children in Need – and their hope that they could bring the total collected past the £50,000 mark.

The collection was based on Christchurch Way & Lichfield Street in Stone on Friday 18th November, and collected £2,960.25.  All the money raised goes to support the excellent work done by organisations funded by the BBC’s Children in Need appeal – a number of which provide support for children in the mid-Staffs area.

Tim Joyce says “We would like to thank the people of Stone for their enduring generosity, and also our helpers – who this year included 13 students from the 6th form of Alleyne’s Academy in Stone. As usual, the staff at Barclays in Stone undertook the task of counting all the coins, and also a fair number of notes.”

The Club once again hosted visits by Pudsey to a number of local Schools, as well as to local company Flip Out, in the week running up to the collection.

Having collected on behalf of Children in Need, Stone Rotary will be out collecting again shortly – this time raising funds to support local charitable causes. We will be bringing Santa and his Sleigh to Morrison’s in Stone on Saturday 3rd December, and then to the High Street in Stone on Saturday 10th December. On Friday and Saturday 16th and 17th December, we will be collecting at the Moto northbound motorway services, adjacent to the Stone to Eccleshall road.
