The ever-popular Flying Fox 10 returns on Sunday 2nd November 2025, setting off from Standon at 10:30 am. Open to all abilities, it’s a friendly, scenic challenge on quiet country lanes.

A friendly autumn challenge on our doorstep
Stone Master Marathoners are inviting runners from across Stone and the surrounding villages to lace up for their signature autumn race, the Flying Fox 10. The run kicks off at 10.30 am from the nearby village of Standon and winds round various lovely villages incluing Chapel Chorlton and Maer with great views en route.
Despite the club’s historical name, this isn’t just one for marathon veterans. The event is deliberately inclusive. First-timers, social runners and club athletes line up together, and no one minds if you ease the legs on the hills. Marshals are known for a warm word, there’s water on the course, and tea and snacks back at race HQ once you’re through the finish.

If you have any questions about the event, the race directors are happy to help: Andy Cawthorne and Chris Barlow at ajcawthorne@gmail.com.
Whether you’re chasing a personal best or fancy a sociable trot with friends, the Flying Fox 10 is a great way to spend a Sunday morning. If you’re not running, you can still be part of it by giving the racers a shout as they pass through the course.

REGISTRATION opens at 8:30am and the race starts at 10:30am. HQ is All Saints Primary

we are full, there are no same-day entries this year. If you need to swap your entry for any
reason, please see instructions on the confirmation email you received.

There will, however, be parking available close by at Standon Mill, ST21 6RP and some limited
spaces on the local lanes.
WATER – There will be a water station half-way round soon after Chapel Chorlton Green and
water supplied at the finish line.

kindly follow their guidance at all times when parking and running.

Course-Map.jpg and here – https://www.plotaroute.com/route/1328004#google_vignette It’s an
undulating route, as you can see below. Please be ultra-careful if it’s wet on the day, as the
country lanes can get muddy and slippy, and there are a few potholes.
PHOTOS – As usual, we are privileged to have Bryan Dale & Mick Hall out on the course
snapping us in various states of exhaustion and elation. Bryan’s work can be found here –

year, please email ajcawthorne@gmail.com
