Staffordshire County Council says its programme of roadworks around Stone town centre remains on schedule, with the first phase of improvement work now largely completed.

Work so far has concentrated on new tactile crossings, footpath improvements, kerb repairs and ironworks across Crown Street, Newcastle Street and Station Road.
That work has been taking place ahead of the resurfacing itself, allowing items such as damaged kerbs and ironworks to be dealt with before the new road surface is laid.
Over the coming weeks, crews will move further towards Radford Street and Stone Road.
Temporary four-way traffic lights will be required during this part of the project, and the county council has warned motorists that some delays are likely while the work takes place.
Staffordshire County Council said
“We’re making good progress on our roadworks in Stone, with new tactile crossings, path improvements, kerb and ironwork repairs now completed across Crown Street, Newcastle Street and Station Road.
“Over the coming weeks, work will move towards Radford Street and Stone Road, where temporary four-way traffic lights will be needed to allow our crews to work safely and efficiently.
“We know this may cause some delays, and we’d like to thank everyone for their patience while we carry out these important works.
“The project remains on schedule, and we’re working hard to deliver safer, more accessible routes for everyone.”
The resurfacing programme covers a number of key routes around Stone town centre, meaning traffic management will continue to move as different sections of the scheme are tackled.
