Storm Claudia blew hard across Stone on Friday 14 November, yet the familiar sight of Rotary volunteers with yellow buckets still appeared across the town.

The team have now counted up the day’s donations. A total of 6,829 coins, together with a mix of notes, brought this year’s sum to and impressive £2,213.06. The money has now been paid into the national BBC Children in Need appeal.

This takes Stone’s running total from twenty eight years of these streetside collections to £72,233.06.
A spokesperson for Stone Rotary Club said,
“We are very proud to have collected a total of £2,213.06 this year, which has all been paid into the national BBC Children in Need bank account.
We want to thank the people of Stone, who as always were very generous with their donations.”
The group added that the collection was supported by several local organisations.
“We must thank those who helped the Stone Rotary Club members on the day, two members of the Rotary Club of Stafford Knot, two members of Stone Lions, three members of the Stone Inner Wheel club, two Stone Carnival supporters, and our local MP Sir Gavin Williamson.”
