Extra trains are now running from Stone to London on Sundays after London Midland doubled the number of Sunday services.
The new timetable, which came into force on 1st April, will mean 11 services running southbound and 10 heading northbound on Sundays. Previously there were five southbound and four northbound.
Mike Dalton from London Midland said: “This represents a doubling of the existing frequency and is in response to the demand we have had from customers wishing to travel to and from the capital.”
The service, which was launched in December 2008, already runs hourly Monday to Saturday.
It can take between one-and-a-half to three hours to get to Euston on a London Midland service from Stone station. The time of the journey is reflected in ticket prices, with a single ticket on a weekday service starting from just £8 and from £12 on a Sunday.

This is fine, but how about one late night train each night. The last train back is way to early.
By the time you get down there its virtually time to come back. OK slight exaggeration but not by much. I would use the train much more often if there was a late train. I think they used to call it the ” milk train”
eg. last train back on a saturday with london midland is 18.46 …. 🙁
last back on sunday 19.50 … 🙁
even worse during the week last train back 15.46… 🙁
Not a good service.

Totally agree with your points. The time of last trains on many, many routes is depressingly early. I’m going to see a concert in Manchester on Thursday but there’s just no way I can get the train, unless I stay over in a hotel. So the car it is :/
