David Leech is pulling the strings on The Staffordshire Puppet Tree project, and he’s looking for Stone residents to get involved in a weekly group ahead of the Puppet Tree Jamboree!
David Leech has launched The Staffordshire Puppet Tree, a voluntary group where local people can meet together in a friendly, informal setting to discover the art of puppetry and present shows. The group aims to benefit the local community by enabling the public to become involved with something creative and rewarding.
David is no stranger to puppets, or Stone for that matter, being instrumental in bringing to life a puppet festival in Stone’s High Street in 2015.
Sound Interesting?
If you’ve got a couple of hours on a Wednesday morning, then the Puppet Tree Group may just be for you! Attendees will take part in small group sessions to discover the wonderful and exciting world of puppet theatre.
In a very short time, you will learn how to handle puppets and present a puppet performance with one or two of the other people in the group during the Puppet Tree Jamboree to be held in Stone’s Market Square, this July.
“It really is great fun bringing these wonderful characters to life and much easier to do than you might imagine it to be!” David Leech told A Little Bit of Stone.
The sessions are free to attend; no strings attached (see what I did there?).
Stone Puppet Tree Club will run sessions on a Wednesday, from May the 3rd to July the 5th – but please note, there won’t be sessions on 31st May or 7th June. All sessions will be ran between 10am and 12 noon in the Stone Station Community Centre, Stone ST15 8ER
The Staffordshire Puppet Tree Jamboree will take over the town’s Market Square on the 8th of July (More details of the day’s programme will follow in due course.) The Puppet Tree Jamboree will include performances by professional puppeteers and local people, including school children putting on shows too.
