The Star is shining bright again!

The new owners of The Star in Stone are launching a brand new menu on Friday 1st April, the latest stage of their ambitious plans for the canalside pub.

Becky and Dom Plant have been at The Star since October last year and have spent the last few months giving it some serious TLC, inside and out, as well as putting the pub back at the heart of the community. There’s been a breakfast with Father Christmas, pancake decorating party and – over the Easter weekend – an egg hunt and duck race!

On 1st April comes their new menu, designed by the couple with their new head chef, and featuring burgers, grills, salads, sharing platters, pub classics and more. The burger menu looks great, with the option to build your own from 15 topping selections – all served with onion rings, homemade coleslaw and fries (sweet potato ones if that’s your fancy!). There’s a separate Super Star menu for the little ones, too.

There’s 25% off food prices on launch day, so give them a call to book your table – contact details are at the end of this article.

Dom is a Stafford-lad born and bred and did his apprenticeship in Stone with an engineering firm. In fact, he enjoyed his first ever legal pint in The Star many years ago!  He enjoyed a long career with the engineering company until he and Becky got married and decided to embark on a new adventure as a publicans. Since then he’s made quality beer and cask his priority and you’ll either find him behind the bar, walking the dog or watching Top Gear!

Becky’s family are from Eccleshall, where her parents still live. She has lived in a few places across the country and studied in Liverpool before returning to her parent’s home town and meeting Dom. A member of the Girl Guiding Association, you may well recognise her from her days as a young leader in Stone and later a Guider in Eccleshall. Having honed her chef skills in their previous pub in Lancashire you’ll either find her in the kitchen, in front of a spreadsheet or with her head buried in her phone – but don’t be fooled, she’s a really sociable character.

Their daughters Chloe, 12, and one-year-old Sophie are bound to be seen about the pub on a regular basis, too. The Star under Becky and Dom is a real family-friendly place.

Becky said: “It’s all about personality-led service for us, and making sure that people have a fantastic experience when they visit The Star, whether that’s coming for a meal or enjoying a drink in the beer garden or in the canalside bar.”

If you haven’t been to The Star for a while, we think you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the transformation brought about by Becky and Dom.
