Staffordshire Police have confirmed that the driver involved in Monday night’s crash sadly died in hospital. Their full statement has now been included below.
A man has died following a serious collision on the A51 near Aston Marina in Stone.
Emergency services were called to the scene at 9:10 pm on Monday 7th July. The road was closed between the A34 Aston Island and the B5027 Lichfield Road while crews responded.
Staffordshire Police have confirmed that a black Nissan Juke had left the road and collided with a tree just south of Aston Marina.
The driver, a man in his 20s, was taken to Royal Stoke University Hospital by ambulance. Despite the efforts of emergency crews and hospital staff, he was pronounced dead a short time later. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
Two passengers – a woman and a child – were also taken to hospital for further assessment. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.
West Midlands Ambulance Service sent two ambulances, two paramedic officers and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford to the scene. A spokesperson confirmed:
“On arrival, crews found one car had come off the road. The driver, a man, was in a critical condition. After being removed from the vehicle with the assistance of fire crews, ambulance staff immediately began administering advanced life support. He was then conveyed via land ambulance to Royal Stoke University Hospital.”
Police have launched an appeal for witnesses or dashcam footage to help them understand what happened.
