Stone residents head to the polls tomorrow for a number of elections – and the Stone Neighbourhood Plan referendum, here’s what you need to know!
On May 6th, 20201, Stone residents will be casting their vote in the following elections and referendums:
- Staffordshire County Council – 1 vote for 1 councillor depending on whether you’re in the urban or rural districts
- Stone Urban – Most of Stone
- Stone Rural – Parts of Walton and the new Udall Grange estate
- Staffordshire Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner
- Stone Town Council – Stonefield & Christchurch By-election
- Stone Neighbourhood Plan Referendum
You can see candidate profiles for those standing in the elections on our candidate profile page – https://alittlebitofstone.com/2021-elections/2021-candidate-profiles/
We also put together a series of Q&A videos with the candidates and you can access those on our YouTube channel – Youtube.com/Alittlebitofstone
Finally, the Stone Neighbourhood Plan is a very important element of tomorrows elections, the plan created by Stone residents, brought together by Stone Town Council’s councillors has been created with the assistance of an independent planning consultant. The plan has been reviewed by an inspector from HM Government and the final piece for it to take effect is for it to get backing from residents in the referendum.
In order to pass, more than 50% of the residents who vote in the referendum must vote YES and we will be putting our vote in the YES box. Should the vote pass then it becomes effective immediately and Stone will then have more control of its green spaces and development within the town.
We have produced this guide to the plan for those who don’t want to read the 102-page plan – https://alittlebitofstone.com/2021-elections/stone-neighbourhood-plan-referendum/
Results will not come out on Friday for all elections, as due to Covid counting for the County elections has been bumped to the Saturday.
You can head to our 2021 election hub page for further details on the election, some background information and details on polling locations and changes for Covid voting -> 2021 ALBOS Election Hub
Thanks to all the candidates, political parties and members of the public who engaged with our content and helped shape it.
Finally, we’d like to wish all candidates the best in the election, it’s been an odd one with Covid restrictions so we hope that for future elections things can get back to normal!
