A brand new optical and audiology service in Stone was officially opened today (Tuesday 7 May) by the town Mayor.

Stone Town Mayor, Councillor Kristan Green, cut the ribbon on the new Specsavers High Street store, and welcomed the community.
Three store directors who are all familiar faces to Specsavers; Jason Guy and Satinder Mahal, both directors at the Stafford store, and Koyas Ali who was previously an optometrist at Bearwood, will run the store.
Facilities within the new business include three optical consulting rooms, a contact lens area and a dedicated sound-proof room for audiology. The latest high-tech optical equipment will also be installed throughout, including an advanced eye scanning system which helps in the early detection of several eye conditions, including glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and diabetic retinopathy.
Retail Director Jason Guy said; “We are honoured to become part of Stone and look forward to serving the community. We wouldn’t be here without the people of Stone. We’d also like to thank Kristan for coming down to the opening and cutting the ribbon to declare the store officially open.”
The 3D Optical Coherence Tomography machine (OCT), which is usually found in hospitals, is similar to an ultrasound but uses light instead of sound waves to create a picture from the reflections – in this case of the back of the eye. The cost of this scan (£10) is in addition to the eye test and not covered by the NHS examination.
The Stone store will be open six days a week, with hearing appointments available three days a week. To make an appointment, pop into the Stone store at 15 High Street, Stone, Staffordshire, ST15 8AJ or call 01785 812308.
