Eleven-year-old twin brothers who go to Walton Priory Middle School have played their part in this year’s big Oscar contender.
Paul and Stephen Stanley are among the youngest background artists, or extras, to appear in the film The King’s Speech, starring Colin Firth and Helena Bonham Carter.
Stafford-based Seven Casting – which used to be called the Janet Howe Casting Agency and was based in Stone – provided dozens of extras for the film, which charts the relationship between King George VI and his speech therapist Lionel Logue.
Paul said: “I was in one scene where we’re walking down the road, and then in another one in the factory where we’re listening to the King’s speech on the radio.
“We were given quite raggedy clothes to wear, and I also had to have a bowl cut. It took a while to grow out of that and I got a bit of teasing at school.
“I didn’t really know how big a film it was when it was being filmed, but when I found out that it was going to win Oscars and Golden Globes I thought it was pretty good.”
