Women’s World Day of Prayer 2018

Women’s World Day of Prayer is a women-led worldwide ecumencial movment- the largest Christian movement in the world – with millions of men and women from all ages from some 170 countries and islands worshipping on one special day.
The Service is prepared by women from a different country each year and it enables us to hear the voices of women from a different part of the world each year, expressing their hopes and concerns and bringing them before the rest of the world in prayer. For some women it is one of the few opportunities to speak about what matters to them.
On Friday 2nd March 2018 people will gather to observe the day of prayer, using an order of service written by the Christian women from Suriname and translated into over 1000 different languages and dialects. In the British Isles alone over 6,000 services will be held. The day will begin when the sun rises over the island of Samoa, and continue until it sets off the coast of American Samoa some 35 hours later.
The service in Stone this year will be hosted by St John’s Methodist/URC Church at Walton Community Centre (Whitemill Lane) at 2 pm. There will be refreshments after the service. ALL are welcome.
