This year’s Dougie Mac 5k event takes place on Sunday 17th April, the first in the charity’s 2016 running calendar.
Incorporating a 5k chip timed race for Dougie Mac supporters wishing to gain a professional race time, a 5k fun run and also a 5k walk, the event has been organised to suit all levels of fitness. Participants will start and finish their run or walk at World of Wedgwood’s Atrium, with the course taking them on a route around parts of Wedgwood’s beautiful 240 acre estate.
[box type=”shadow” align=”aligncenter” ]Suzi Smith, Head of Corporate Fundraising and Events at Douglas Macmillan Hospice, said: “Our 5k event is incredibly popular and we plan the route to ensure that as many of our supporters as possible can take part, regardless of their fitness level. We are looking forward to seeing all ages and abilities coming together to enjoy the event again this year, and as well as running and walking I am sure there will also be plenty of hopping, jumping and skipping and generally having fun around the course.”[/box]
Heather Broadhurst, General Manager at World of Wedgwood, added: “We could not be more pleased to have the opportunity to host this year’s Dougie Mac 5k event. The care that the Douglas Macmillan Hospice provides to adults with life-limiting illnesses is invaluable, and it is a privilege to be able to support such an incredibly worthwhile cause. As well as playing host to the event we have a team running on the day, so we are looking forward to cheering Team Wedgwood on too.”
