Team Ignite second in Young Enterprise final

Huge congratulations to a group of young entrepreneurs from Stone’s Alleyne’s Academy, who finished second in this year’s Young Enterprise competition.

The group – who run the Ignite company – won the Stafford, Staffordshire and West Midlands finals to make it to the national final on 1st July at the British Film Institute, where they were pipped to the title by a group of students from Southborough High School in south-west London.

Finishing second was a spectacularly great result for the students. This year, nearly 22,000 students took part in the competition, setting up nearly 2,000 companies between them. Ignite’s product, Connect, is a sturdy supporter designed to store smartphone, tablet or handheld games consoles for use when watching programmes, for a more comfortable and optimised viewing angle.

Michael Mercieca, chief executive of Young Enterprise, said: “Setting up a business alongside regular studying is not easy to do but we have witnessed, yet again this year, thousands of pupils from all areas of the UK and all backgrounds and cultures use enterprise to really develop their skill sets.”
