Willmott Dixon, the company undertaking the Stone Leisure Centre, have issued their first progress newsletter
The Westbridge Park project kicked off on the 5th February 2018 and has a a planned completion date of the 15th February 2019.
The 52 week construction plan will deliver a new 25 metre, 6 lane, swimming pool as well as multiple gym studios and associated facilities.
As you can see from the plan the new lesiure centre will be constructed between the existing gym and the newly build Girl Guides HQ.
The leisure centre project is split into 5 key milestones:
- Ground works and site setup
- Foundations, frame & structure
- Pre-finish interiors
- Finish, defect rectification and handover
Currently the project is at stage 1 with the erection of perimeter fencing/hoardings underway as well as the installation of the site offices and welfare facilities.
Groundworks activities, including foundations, drainage and concrete frame are due to commence late February through to April 2018. The leisure centres steel frame is expected to be erected in early May 2018.
As part of the project Willmott Dixon have emphasised their desire to be a good neighbour, taking very seriously their role in maintaining a safe and clean enviroment. This being the case, the site will be registered under the Considerate Constructor’s scheme, regular updates on the site progress including current and upcoming woks will be communicated through monthly newsletter updates.
The company will be making contact with all local groups and clubs that use the Westbridge Park facilities and will be arranging a community liaison meeting as soon as possible.
