Free bike security marking event to be held in Stone

A free bike security marking event is being held in Stone on Wednesday, following recent reports of bike thefts around the town.

Bike Marking Event Stone

Local police officers will be outside Stone Leisure Centre on Stafford Road between 1pm and 3pm on Wednesday 5 August.

Residents can bring along a new or existing bicycle to have it security marked and registered free of charge.

Security marking can act as a deterrent and makes a bicycle easier to identify if it is stolen and later recovered.

There is no need to book, with cyclists able to attend at any point during the two hour event.

Children aged under 18 must either be accompanied by an adult or have permission from a parent or guardian before their bike can be registered and marked.

The event will take place outside Stone Leisure Centre, Westbridge Park, Stafford Road, Stone, ST15 8QW.

Further information about the national BikeRegister scheme is available from the BikeRegister website.
