Staffordshire Police have arrested a 29-year-old man from the Stone area on suspicion of driving while above the legal alcohol limit and failing to stop when requested by an officer following a collision in Stone High Street.
The police have confirmed to A Little Bit of Stone that they were called at 9.15pm to the Filleybrooks in Stone after reports of damage to a vehicle.
Officers attended and a white Mazda was stopped on Whitemill Lane with severe damage to its front end after a suspected collision with railings on the High Street.
A 29-year-old man from the Stone area was arrested on suspicion of driving while above the legal alcohol limit and failing to stop when requested by an officer.
He remains in police custody while inquiries continue.
Chief Inspector Giles Parsons, of Stafford Borough Neighbourhood Policing Team, said:
“The decorative railings have been damaged outside Lloyds bank by the High Street, Stone. This follows a road traffic collision.
“We have arrested a male in connection with this and he remains in police custody. Further updates will be given in due course.”
