Save money with ‘Cheaper Energy Together’

People in Stone can sign up for a scheme which could save hundreds of pounds on our energy bills.

A host of Staffordshire charities are backing the not-for-profit ‘Cheaper Energy Together’ scheme. Beat the Cold, Staffordshire Housing Group and Aspire Housing believe this collective buying scheme will help Staffordshire residents save hundreds on their bills when not-for-profit ‘thePeoplesPower’ negotiates with energy companies for cheaper energy on their behalf.

Supported by four Staffordshire local authorities as well as Staffordshire Fire and Rescue, Cheaper Energy Together already has over 4,200 people signed up, with numbers steadily growing. ThePeoplesPower have already held a successful collective switch, with average savings of £206 per household.

Mike Shamash, director of thePeoplesPower, credits this saving with their low referral fees (charged to energy companies). He said: “We’re not in it for the money. Rising prices and rising profits of energy companies have made consumers mistrustful of the energy market, but we are presenting an alternative where consumers, not profits, are the priority.”
