An electrical fault in a loft caused the fire which spread across three homes in Stone on Sunday 20 September, Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service has confirmed.

The blaze broke out shortly after 4pm at a terraced property on Chestnut Grove, before spreading to adjoining homes.
At the height of the incident, five fire engines and an aerial ladder platform were used to tackle the fire. Everyone inside the affected properties evacuated safely.
A woman was assessed by West Midlands Ambulance Service for potential smoke inhalation but was discharged at the scene.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze, with the remaining crews leaving shortly before 10pm.
Following an investigation, the fire service has confirmed that the cause was an electrical fault in the loft.
Station Manager Ant Ball, who attended the incident, said working smoke alarms had played an important role in alerting residents.
“This fire took place in the loft space of a terraced property which quickly spread to the adjoining homes. If it wasn’t for the working smoke alarms in the properties, those inside may not have been alerted to the fire before it spread beyond control.
“These incidents can have very different outcomes if homes do not have working smoke alarms, and I’m pleased that our crews were able to safely extinguish the fire and minimise the spread.”
Residents can find further information about checking and maintaining their smoke alarms on the Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service website .
