Staffordshire County Council held an information event in Stone last week for local people to find out more about a new scheme that will see £6m invested in improving the A34 as part of wider plans to regenerate the former Meaford power station site.
The council says the investment will support the transformation of the largest undeveloped brownfield site in the county into a business park and create around 2,500 new jobs.
Developer St Modwen already has planning permission to regenerate the Meaford Major Employment Site and the scheme will see access improved by the building of a new roundabout and a second junction to serve the park.
Here are some documents you may find useful – notes from the consultation event and some maps which show the proposals in detail. Just click to have a look at each PDF document. Many thanks to James Hilton for mailing these to us:

Another roundabout on the A34. It will soon be a few short lengths of road joined by roundabouts. We will need one by the Wayfarer and by Aldi with all the developments that are ongoing. The one by The BP petrol station are so dangerous. I have been hit there last year while turning right into Newcastle Road and regularly have to give way to all types of vehicles including coaches who fail to observe the give way signs!
