Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service is holding a special conference at its Stone headquarters to ask religious groups to help them identify vulnerable people in Staffordshire communities.
The death of an elderly lady in a fire on New Year’s Day has been the driving force behind the event, which will be held on November 11th from 9am to 1.30pm at Fire and Rescue Service headquarters in Stone.
Gillian Bromley, who was 65, died at her Stafford home on New Year’s Day and it was later discovered her only community link was with the church.
Group manager Keith Stubbs said: “The idea of the multi-faith conference is to build further relationships and links with anyone who visits people’s homes, such as vicars or priests and pastoral workers. They can act as eyes and ears for the emergency services and social care and health, as they may be the only contact a vulnerable person has. We want to help people identify vulnerable people and refer them to us so we can take the necessary steps to help that person.”
