A cracking Easter break for youngsters with Step Into

Easter

Events to ensure youngsters have a cracking Easter break are being organised in Stone and across Stafford Borough.

The ‘Step Into Easter Holiday’ programme, run by Stafford Borough Council, features a variety of sports and activities for all ages over the fortnight – with some free of charge.

As well as Multi Mix, swimming and other activities at Alleyne’s Sports Centre in Stone, there’s a Sport in Your Space session at Stonefield Park for eight to 13-year-olds on Tuesday 5th April from 2pm to 4pm.

The programme kicks off with an Easter Bunny Hunt at the Ancient High House on Saturday 26 March followed by an Easter Dinosaur Hunt at Stafford Castle on Easter Sunday. Other activities on offer include football, dodgeball, triathlon, an outdoor adventure day and a Going for Gold athletics event.

The popular Multi Mix sessions allow children to taste a range of sports over one day, Triple Time sessions offer cricket, swimming and sports hall athletics, and Sport in your Space brings dodgeball, football, rounders and kwik cricket to a local park or open space.

There are also learn-to-ride cycling sessions and a free disability football/cricket session. Other free sessions include a Fun in the Park event at Victoria Park and a Family Explorer event at Rowley Park Sports Stadium.

[box type=”shadow” ]Councillor Mike Smith, Cabinet Member for Leisure, said: “The sessions we put on through the school holidays are really popular and there is a fantastic programme coming up this Easter, with plenty to appeal to youngsters of all ages. The health and wellbeing of our borough is one of the Council’s top priorities and with so much on offer to keep children active during the holidays there is no excuse to be bored.”[/box]

The ‘Step Into’ scheme will run from Saturday 26 March to Friday 8 April. Click HERE for details of all the activities, dates and prices.
