The Royal Exchange has been named pub of the month by Camra’s Heart of Staffordshire branch for February – and landlady Cheryl Poppit has invited regulars and new customers to the celebrations on Thursday 3rd February.
The Titanic hostelry in Radford Street will be receiving its award at 9pm. It’s become a real community pub since Cheryl took over about 18 months ago, with regular fundraising events to raise money for the Joe Gilligan Trust. Community groups often use the pub as a base for meetings, including Transition Stone and the Stone Social Media Surgery.
There’s the full fleet of Titanic ales on offer, as well as lots of other real ales, ciders and wines. Food’s available too – including a legendary Titanic tasting platter: six thirds of ale, pork pie, cheeses and bread.
