Changes to free Post Office Bus Service

Stone Town Council are reducing the free Post Office bus service due to lack of take-up

From March there will be changes to the free bus service to local Post Office.

Stone Town Council have been providing, on one day per week, a bus service to nearby Post Offices following the closure of the Stone High Street Post Office.

The Town Council is paying the “Green Bus” community transport operators to run the service on its behalf. Due to lower than expected numbers, however, the Green Bus operators have decided that they want to utilise the bus for other community purposes, and have given the Council notice that they will operate only the 10:30am service from 6th March 2018.

The 8:30am, 12:30pm and 2:00pm services thus operated for the last time on 27th February 2018.

The bus will continue to pick up at 10:30am each Tuesday near to the Town Council offices on Station Road and run to a local Post Office. It is available to any resident, of any age, who are finding it difficult to get to a Post Office, with no need to book a place in advance. Users will be able to undertake their Post Office business and the reboard the bus for the return back to Stone.

The Council have restated that they remain committed to ensuring the return of a Post Office to the town centre as soon as possible and we’ve recently shared some good news about the possible return of a Post Office to the town.
