The prescription charge is due to go up in April, from £8.80 per item to £9.00 per item, could you save on these charges with a prescription prepayment certificate?
If you’re a prescription paying customer, then you’ll know how expensive they can be. What you may not realise is that you can sign up for a prescription prepayment certificate (PPC) that lets you get as many NHS prescriptions as you need for a set price.
If you regularly pay for prescriptions then with a PPC you can make considerable savings.
PPC’s can be purchased in either 3 or 12-month duration, costing £29.10 for 3 months and £104 for 12 months.
If you are going for the 12 months certificate then you can pay by direct debit for 10 months at a cost of £10.40 per month.
How much you can save
| Number of prescribed medicines you need each month | Saving with a 12 month PPC | Saving with a 3 month PPC |

| 3 | More than £210 a year | More than £50 in 3 months |
