Emergency services unable to save cardiac arrest victim in Stone High Street

Church Street PoliceSadly an elderly gentleman in Stone today suffered a cardiac arrest and passed away shortly after lunchtime today.

Ambulance staff took over resuscitation efforts from an off duty nurse and members of the public who had begun administering CPR to the gentleman.

The incident took place at the bottom of Stone High Street with Staffordshire Police, West Midlands Ambulance Service and the Midlands Air Ambulance attending. The air ambulance landed at Trent Close, alongside Crown Meadow with Staffordshire Police also blocking the entrance to the Church Street, by Phone Solution Stone, as they assisted the ambulance teams dealing with the incident.

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service told A Little Bit of Stone:

“We were called at 12.17pm to the junction of Stafford Street and Christchurch Way in Stone following reports of a patient in cardiac arrest.

Two ambulances and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Tatenhill were sent to the scene.

Crews arrived to find an off duty nurse and bystanders performing CPR on a man in cardiac arrest. Ambulance Staff took over resuscitation efforts but sadly nothing could be done to save the man and he was confirmed dead a short time later on the scene.”

Staffordshire Police released the following statement:

“Officers were called to Stone High Street at 12:35pm to reports of an elderly male taken ill.

“Ambulance and air ambulance crews were in attendance but, sadly, nothing could be done and the patient died at the scene.”

Our thoughts go to the family and friends of the gentleman as well as those who witnessed and attempted to revive him.
