The market is being held as a trial, with Castle Artisan Events and Stone Town Council looking at how it is received by residents, visitors, stallholders and existing town centre businesses.

When plans were announced, Councillor Jill Hood, chairman of Stone Town Council’s Tourism and Town Promotion Sub Committee, said the council hoped the event could lead to a longer term partnership if it proves successful.

Castle Artisan Events also said it hoped the market would encourage visitors to spend time elsewhere in the town centre, including local shops, cafés, pubs and restaurants.

Stone Artisan Market will run from 10am to 3pm on Saturday 17 October on Stone High Street.
