The railings at the top of Stone High Street have been restored and re-installed following a car accident earlier in the year.
In April 2021 we reported about a drunk driver who was arrested after crashing into the railings at the top of Stone High Street before making off. He was later detained and arrested for the offence and the damaged railings were removed and sent off to be repaired.
Stone Town Council, liaised with the highways team at Staffordshire County Council to ensure that the originally town council-funded railings could be repaired and re-instated.
After two months it’s great to see that today the team arrived on site with the repaired railings to re-install them in place of the ghastly yellow temporary fence that had spanned the gap since the accident.
Thanks to an ALBOS follower for snapping these pictures of the works taking place and the finished article. Also many thanks to Dave (pictured here doing the installation) who was responsible for repairing the railings and restoring the top of our wonderful High Street.

Err… has anyone pointed out that they’ve been fitted backwards? I don’t think they were killed according to their custom. 😉
