A daytime road closure is planned in Stone town centre on Friday 10 July while Staffordshire County Council carries out traffic signal works.

The work relates to the section near Stone Post Office, running towards Lichfield Street and the Church Street junction, close to Phone Solutions.

The closure is expected to be in place from 9.30am to 3.30pm on Friday 10 July 2026.
Staffordshire County Council says the closure is needed while damaged traffic signal detection loops are recut.
Access will remain available for pedestrians, emergency services vehicles, and vehicles being used in connection with the works.
Based on the roadworks map, the outer lane of the Stone bypass is also likely to be coned off from the Morrisons area towards the traffic lights to support the works and closure.
Traffic heading down Lichfield Road/Street towards the town centre appears to be able to continue through, although drivers should follow the signs and instructions in place on the day.
Alternative routes for traffic will be signed on site. More details, including the roadworks map and official diversion information, are available through one.network.
The closure notice states that the restriction is for one day, but may run for no more than five days from 10 July if required.
