Stone hotel’s uphill battle for defibrillator fund sees Snowdon success

Stone House Hotel staff braved Snowdon’s heights to raise funds for a community defibrillator. Though they faced challenging weather, the team’s dedication brought them halfway to their £2,099 target.

A Remarkable Journey

In a remarkable act of community spirit, the management team at Stone House Hotel has successfully climbed Mount Snowdon in an effort to raise funds for a defibrillator. Despite challenging weather conditions, the team completed the demanding climb, showing their dedication to the cause. The defibrillator will be installed at the Stone House Hotel and will be available for the entire community to use.

The Objective

The Stone House Hotel team embarked on their journey on the 25th of June, 2023. The objective was clear: to raise £2,099 for the installation of a defibrillator, a potentially life-saving device. The team has managed to raise just over half the amount so far, with the total currently standing at £1,095.

Importance of a Defibrillator

Defibrillators are vital in the event of a Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA). Each year:

  • 30,000 people die from SCAs outside of hospital environments.
  • An alarming 620 of these fatalities are people under the age of 35.
  • 270 occur within schools.

If defibrillation is administered within the first three minutes of an SCA, the patient’s chances of survival can increase by over 80%.

The defibrillator will not replace the ambulance service but will enable immediate treatment to commence. The local ambulance trust can deploy it to give the patient the all-important shock to the heart before the ambulance’s arrival.

Stone House Hotel Fundraising Continues

In the spirit of community, the fundraising continues. Despite the completion of their ambitious climb, the Stone House Hotel team is encouraging continued donations to reach their target. With just over half the target achieved, there’s still a way to go, but every donation counts.
