New defibrillator installed at Downs Banks as fundraising continues

A new public access defibrillator has been installed at Coffee n’ Cones at Downs Banks, with fundraising continuing to cover the remaining cost of the project.

The equipment is already in place and ready for use after AEDdonate supplied the defibrillator and cabinet before the fundraising campaign had been completed.

AEDdonate has pledged £1,000 towards the project, while the latest update from Coffee n’ Cones says a further £460 is still needed.

The campaign was launched because of the distance to the nearest registered publicly accessible defibrillator. Coffee n’ Cones says this was at Barlaston Golf Club, around 0.8 miles from Downs Banks.

AEDdonate advises that a public access defibrillator should ideally be within around 500 metres of where it may be needed.

The new unit is intended to provide easier access to emergency equipment for people visiting Downs Banks, including walkers, runners, cyclists, families and dog walkers.

Coffee n’ Cones said

“We’re delighted to share that a new public access defibrillator has now been installed at Coffee n’ Cones, The Downs Banks, helping to provide vital emergency protection for walkers, cyclists, families, dog walkers and all visitors enjoying this popular local beauty spot.”

The business is now asking people who are able to support the campaign to help raise the remaining £460.
